Meatless Monday Indonesia Joins the PARARA Consortium: Opening the Door to Collaboration within Indonesia’s National Food Ecosystem
About the Program
Meatless Monday Indonesia (MMI) has officially joined the Konsorsium PARARA, a multi-stakeholder collaboration platform within Indonesia’s national food ecosystem. The consortium brings together civil society organizations (CSOs), government institutions, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), farmer groups, and private sector actors.
MMI’s inclusion marks a strategic milestone in strengthening sustainable food consumption initiatives, particularly those focused on dietary behavior change and the promotion of plant-based foods as part of a broader food systems transformation.
Why Does This Program Exist?
The integration of Meatless Monday Indonesia into the Konsorsium PARARA reflects the growing recognition that consumer behavior and dietary choices are crucial components in building resilient, sustainable, and health-oriented food systems.
As a movement focused on reducing meat consumption, MMI contributes a demand-side perspective that complements broader efforts in food production, distribution, governance, and policy development.
Objective
The objective of Meatless Monday Indonesia’s participation in the Konsorsium PARARA is to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in advancing sustainable food systems transformation in Indonesia through policy engagement, public education, and the promotion of plant-based dietary behavior change.
At the same time, MMI aims to contribute to broader systemic efforts toward building a healthier, more resilient, and inclusive food ecosystem.
Process
The process includes the formal integration of Meatless Monday Indonesia into the Konsorsium PARARA, followed by active participation in multi-stakeholder coordination, policy discussions, knowledge exchange, and the development of collaborative programs with various actors across the food system—including civil society, government, farmers, and the private sector.
These efforts aim to align behavioral change initiatives with broader food systems transformation agendas.
Impact
The result of this collaboration is the strengthening of the institutional position and expanded impact of Meatless Monday Indonesia within Indonesia’s national food systems landscape.
The partnership also encourages greater cross-sector synergy, broader public awareness of sustainable dietary practices, and stronger potential for integrated initiatives that support healthier, more sustainable, and more inclusive food systems in Indonesia.
